Ohh is a conversation card app designed to help friends have deeper, more meaningful conversations. It’s free to download, takes about 10 seconds to set up, and works entirely asynchronously — meaning you and your friends don’t need to be online at the same time.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Getting started

When you open Ohh for the first time, you’ll enter your name and get a unique ohh code. That’s your identity in the app. No email, no phone number, no lengthy signup. Share your code with a friend or enter theirs — one code, one connection.

The free tier includes 1 friend connection, 4 decks, 2 daily card exchanges, and the Sunset theme. Enough to experience what Ohh does before deciding if you want more.

Sparks: 1:1 conversations

A Spark is a conversation between you and one friend. Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Pick a card. Browse any of the available decks and choose a question that interests you. Each card shows the question and the deck it belongs to.

Step 2: Answer first. Before your friend sees anything, you write your answer. This is the key mechanic — by going first, you’re setting the tone for honesty. You’re not just asking, you’re sharing.

Step 3: Send it. Your friend receives the Spark and sees the question plus your answer. They write their own response.

Step 4: Reveal. Both answers are visible. That’s the “ohh” moment — when your friend’s answer surprises you, moves you, or teaches you something new about someone you thought you already knew.

The whole thing works async. Send a Spark at 9pm. Your friend answers at 7am the next day. No scheduling, no pressure.

Circles: group conversations

Circles are for groups of 3 to 8 friends. The mechanic is different from Sparks in one crucial way: everyone answers blind.

An admin picks a deck. The system selects a question. But the question is hidden — you can’t even see it until you commit to answering. Once you start, you answer without seeing anyone else’s response.

When the last person answers, the group reveal unlocks. Every member taps to see all answers at once. No anchoring. No performing. Just honest answers from everyone, revealed simultaneously.

Circles produce conversations that group chats physically cannot. The blind-answer mechanic means you get everyone’s real response, not their reaction to whoever answered first.

The decks

Ohh has 58 themed decks with over 3,000 conversation cards. They range from light and fun to deeply personal:

Light: Icebreakers, First Impressions, Daily Spark, Would You Rather, Party Starters
Medium: Friendship, Love Languages, Childhood, Peak Moments, Hot Takes, Embarrassing Stories
Deep: Deep Dive, Mind Matters, Fears & Vulnerabilities, Meaning of Life, Bedroom Confessions

Each deck shows a depth rating (1–4 dots) so you can choose the right intensity for the moment. Free users get 4 decks. Pro unlocks all 58.

Themes

Ohh has three visual themes, each with its own personality:

Sunset — warm, minimal, and free forever. Cream backgrounds, terracotta accents, and a soft glow that makes the app feel like a Sunday morning.

Ocean — calm, coastal, Pro only. Cool blues and greens that create a reflective, peaceful atmosphere.

Mars — cinematic, immersive, Pro only. A dark cosmos with twinkling stars, drifting dust particles, and Pip & Pop in space helmets. Mars doesn’t just change the colours — it transforms the entire feel of the app.

Pip & Pop

Ohh’s mascots are two blob characters named Pip (coral) and Pop (purple). They float around the app, react to what’s happening, and generally make the experience feel alive. They’re best friends, naturally.

Pricing

Tips for getting the most out of Ohh

Start with someone you trust. Your first Spark should be with a friend who’ll match your energy. Once you see how it works, expand from there.

Don’t overthink your answers. The best responses are the ones that come before you have time to self-edit. Honest first, polished never.

Try a Circle early. If you have 3+ friends on the app, start a Circle. The group reveal is the feature people remember.

Use it async. There’s no rush. Send a Spark at night. Let your friend answer the next day. The conversation will be better for the wait.

Explore different decks. Start with Icebreakers. Graduate to Deep Dive. One day, try Fears & Vulnerabilities with someone you really trust. That’s where the magic lives.
